What Lianex collects when you use it, why, and what you can do about it — in plain English.Last updated: 12 October 2026
Who we are
Lianex (lianex.ai) is a conversational shopping assistant. “We” and “us” on this page mean Lianex. For anything about your privacy, email privacy@lianex.ai.
What we collect
- What you type into the shopping chat, and the search it builds from it (for example the product, price range and features you asked for). It is kept with a random session id so the conversation can carry on.
- Your email or phone number, if you use the support chat. The support chat asks for one before it opens, and keeps what you write in it.
- Emails you send us. When you write to an @lianex.ai address we keep the message — who it is from, the subject, the text and any attachments — so we can reply.
- How you use the site — only if you click Accept on our analytics banner. We record the pages you view and what you click (including which shop you click through to), your browser, operating system, device type and screen size, the page that sent you here and any campaign tags in that link, your rough location (country and region) and a shortened IP address with the last part removed. We never store your full IP address. If you decline, only the short list in the next point is recorded.
- Before you choose, or if you decline: when you arrive on our home page or on a product, browse, comparison or guide page, we record only: the address of the page that sent you here, any campaign tags in that link (for example utm_source), the page you landed on, and the country you are browsing from. We work out the country from your IP address when your visit reaches us and then discard the IP — it is never stored, not even shortened. We also count whether you searched (and how: chat, Browse or a pasted link), whether you opened a product, and whether you clicked through to a shop — a count of each, nothing more. We don't record your browser, device, screen size, region or IP address unless you accept.
- Calls to our public API (see Developers): we log each request, when it was made, the software that made it, the page that referred it and a shortened IP address.
We don't offer user accounts at the moment, so we don't collect passwords. We never take payment details — you buy on the shop's own website.
Country lookup uses IP geolocation data by DB-IP (db-ip.com), licensed under CC BY 4.0.
Why we use it
- To understand what you're shopping for and show you matching products.
- To keep your conversation going from one message to the next.
- To answer your support chats and emails.
- To see where visitors come from and whether they search, open a product or click through to a shop (only the short list above), and — with your consent — how the site is used in more detail, so we can improve it.
- To keep the site and the public API working and to stop misuse.
Cookies and affiliate links
Lianex sets no advertising cookies. Your browser keeps a few small items for us: a random session id so your chat carries on, your answer to the analytics banner, and the details of the link you arrived on. Its campaign tags are sent to us whether or not you accept analytics; an advertising click id in that link is sent only if you accept. The only cookies our server sets are for our own team's sign-in.
Many links to shops are affiliate links: they carry our tag so the shop's affiliate program can credit Lianex if you buy. These programs include the eBay Partner Network and Amazon Associates, as well as other shops' affiliate programs. Once you are on the shop's site, the shop and its affiliate program may set their own cookies under their own privacy policies. It never costs you anything extra — see our affiliate disclosure.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your information. We use a few service providers to run Lianex, and they only get what they need:
- An AI provider (OpenAI) processes your chat messages so Lianex can understand them and reply.
- The shops we search, such as eBay, receive your search words — not who you are — so they can return listings.
- Cloudflare receives emails sent to @lianex.ai and hosts product images; Resend sends our email replies; Google (Gmail) holds a copy of emails so our team can read them.
- Our hosting provider (Railway) stores the website and its database.
Some of these providers store data outside Australia, including in the United States and Japan.
How long we keep it
We keep your chats, support messages, emails and analytics for as long as we need them to run and improve Lianex. You can ask us to delete your information at any time — email privacy@lianex.ai.
Your choices
You can use Lianex without giving us your name and without accepting analytics. To change your analytics choice later, clear this site's data in your browser and the banner will ask again.
To get a copy of your information, correct it, or have it deleted, email privacy@lianex.ai. As there are no accounts, tell us the email or phone number you gave the support chat, or the address you emailed us from, so we can find it.
Questions and complaints
Email privacy@lianex.ai. We aim to reply within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
